Renewing your Resolutions

Renewing your Resolutions
In Clarissa’s Closet
By: Clarissa Burt and Madeline Ulivieri

Springtime is in the air! Tidying up your home, renewing your resolutions or embarking on Spring Break travels are some typical springtime preparations. For us fashionistas, we are preparing for spring in a whole different way. Time to shed our winter wools and bulky boots in order to resurrect our tanks, swimwear, and shorts. Fashion week has come and gone leaving us with plenty of prints, patterns, and color palettes to play with. This spring’s trends include 60’s silhouettes, stripes, and sportswear—to name a few. Turn some heads this spring by checking out my closet to find what to wear on the beach or in the streets.

When I think of spring, Kate Spade naturally comes to mind. Ms. Spade is notorious for her bright colors and fun patterns. This dress screams springtime and is perfect to wear to brunch or to an outdoor party. The 60’s silhouette is spot-on with thick stripes that will elongate your figure. I love the mix of colors in this dress: the blue, nude, red, and pink gives you quite the diverse mix allowing you to mix and match all sorts of fun accessories.

Springtime in Phoenix means it’s time to gather your friends and head out to the spring training baseball games. Why not wear these Oasis Floral Tailored Shorts? They can easily be paired with a pair white tennis shoes and an unlimited amount of colorful tanks for the game. These high-waisted shorts are the perfect length to flatter all sorts of shapes and sizes. I love the versatility in these shorts because it can easily be dressed up or down.

Sportswear was a popular theme on the runways of Chalayan, Victoria Beckham, and Stella McCartney. H&M delivers the runway look at an affordable price. This sporty-inspired bikini is perfect to bring with your snorkel kit on vacation. I love the sporty, metallic straps paired with the elegant, pink pattern. Although it is simple in design, this bikini has a detailed sheer triangle placed perfectly on top.

Black and white stripes are a popular trend this season. You can easily find this classic pattern on tops, dresses, and pants. However, I find it a bit overwhelming. These sling back wedges incorporate this fashion statement without being too over the top.  Valentino crafted the perfect patent leather and rope sandal-wedge to inspire nautical look rather than sporting a jailbird look.  The bow also gives just a touch of feminine chic.
